RHIZOME, AMERICAN FARMHOUSE ALE, 6.0%
Rhizome is our rye infused American Farmhouse Ale. Each time we brew it we pick two hops and blend them to showcase their own interesting characters.
Centennial and Cascade
Rye, pale ale featuring two hops. Notes of citrus, pine. Floral. Classic American hops.
HOPS: German Magnum, Two Hop Blend
Yeast: Escarpment Lab's Fruit Bomb Blend
Malts: German Pilsner, Malted Rye, Malted Wheat, CaraHell
OG/ FG: 12.5°/1.5°
TERMINAL pH: 4.1
For this version of our rye farmhouse ale, we went back to using interesting or almost unknown hops that we wanted to play with. Jarrylo we've used before in Quesada and brings a little overripe ripe banana (not ester-wheat beer banana and just on the taste), orange, and fruity spice. Belma are a new hop that brings a little grapefruit and an interesting strawberry-like taste to the beer. The end result is still a classic, dry, and spicy Rhizome with a combination of orange, strawberry, banana, and a light pineapple note. It's like the beer version of a Tropicana's "Orange, Strawberry, Banana" juice... though dry and balanced with good acidity and carbonation.
Hallertau Blanc/Huell Melon
Two super German hops with notes of lemongrass, white grape, and melon.
